World markets dive as Trump sparks trade, North Korea worries

Global stocks sank Wednesday after US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with talks that are aimed at averting a trade war with China. Equities were also dented by poor eurozone economic data, and as Trump cast doubt on a planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Trump (is) continuing to drive uncertainty over global trade,” said analyst Joshua Mahony at trading firm IG. “European markets are following their Asian counterparts lower, as a pessimistic tone from Trump is compounded by downbeat economic data,” he added. Markets had surged Monday after US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said they had agreed to pull back from imposing threatened tariffs on billions of dollars of goods, and continue talks on a variety of trade issues. However, Trump has declared that he was “not satisfied” with the status of the talks, fuelling worries that the world’s top two economies could still slug out an economically pain

10 Things Parents Should Moderate In Their Children In Nigeria .

Many mothers treat their children like perfect creatures and only notice imperfection, or rather, 'bad character' in other children. Here are things you need to moderate in your child's growthfare . . 1. Stop stomaching their gossips. Ma, you are closer to the child, even you sir; stop registering their gossips. 'Mama Nkechi just said sth about you mummy, she did this, she did that.' Even if that what actually Mama Nkechi did, so shun them first before gossip trade become habitual. . 2. Their eyes' kingdom. Do you ever take note of what they watch at all? Do you? Some movies are rated 18 , you don't bother, let alone lampooning them. Do you know that saying ' practice makes perfect ?' I bet you do. They are eye-practising, don't worry, they'll attain perfection. How can a child of maybe, seven be advising you not to watch Spartacus , that 'Doctore Bleep up.' ( am I really hearing this?) . 3. Dress Inn. Are you vig

US goes it alone on iran talk..

President Donald Trump will unveil a new US Iran strategy on Friday and is expected to withdraw backing from the Iran nuclear accord, undermining a landmark victory of multilateral diplomacy. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump would unveil a broad plan to counter Iran at 12:45 pm (1745 GMT). She did not elaborate, but Trump is expected to declare to Congress that retaining the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement is no longer in the US national interest. This in itself does not mean the deal will collapse. US lawmakers will have 60 days to decide whether they want to “snap back” the sanctions Washington has suspended. But it will mark a clear break with America’s allies, who have pleaded with Trump to respect the accord, and a fierce blow to the multilateral international order. The agreement was signed between Iran and six world powers Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the US — at talks coordinated by the European Union. UN nuclear inspectors say

US withdraws from UNESCO.

The United States announced Thursday that it will withdraw from the United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organization, accusing the body of “anti-Israel bias.” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Washington would establish an “observer mission” to replace its representation at the Paris-based agency. The United States was angered in 2011 when UNESCO members granted Palestine full membership of the body, despite opposition from its ally Israel. Washington opposes any move by UN bodies to recognize the Palestinians as a state, believing that this must await a negotiated Middle East peace deal. But US President Donald Trump’s administration is also reviewing many of its multilateral commitments, pursuing what he calls an “America First” foreign policy. Nauert said the State Department had notified UNESCO’s outgoing Director-General Irina Bokova of their decision earlier Thursday. “This decision was not taken lightly, and reflects US concerns with mounting

Pope Francis will push for peace during his visit to Myanmar, a church official said Thursday, a trip that plunges the pontiff into the centre of a simmering religious conflict which has sparked an exodus of Muslim Rohingya. Myanmar’s western Rakhine state has been torn apart by communal violence, sending more than 520,000 Rohingya racing over to neighbouring Bangladesh since late August. The leader of the world’s Catholics will visit both nations on a highly charged trip in late November — although there are currently no plans to visit strife-torn Rakhine or the refugee camps in Bangladesh. “We don’t know yet what will be in his speech… but he is coming for the sake of the country and he will be talking about peace,” Father Mariano Soe Naing, a spokesman for the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Myanmar, told AFP. “There won’t be any interfaith meetings (in Myanmar) because of the lack of time,” he added. He will talk with de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel peace p

Writing in the Guardian, Seydoux claimed “everyone” in Hollywood knew “what Harvey was up to.” “That’s the most disgusting thing,” she wrote. “It’s unbelievable that he’s been able to act like this for decades and still keep his career.” Seydoux, who was awarded the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival in 2013 for her performance in “Blue Is the Warmest Color,” said she herself was harassed after meeting Weinstein for drinks in the lobby of a hotel. “He acted as if he were considering me for a role. But I knew that was bullshit,” she wrote. Weinstein then invited her to his room, she said, where he “jumped on her” and tried to kiss her after his assistant left. “It was hard to say no (to the invitation) because he’s so powerful.
