World markets dive as Trump sparks trade, North Korea worries

Global stocks sank Wednesday after US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with talks that are aimed at averting a trade war with China. Equities were also dented by poor eurozone economic data, and as Trump cast doubt on a planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Trump (is) continuing to drive uncertainty over global trade,” said analyst Joshua Mahony at trading firm IG. “European markets are following their Asian counterparts lower, as a pessimistic tone from Trump is compounded by downbeat economic data,” he added. Markets had surged Monday after US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said they had agreed to pull back from imposing threatened tariffs on billions of dollars of goods, and continue talks on a variety of trade issues. However, Trump has declared that he was “not satisfied” with the status of the talks, fuelling worries that the world’s top two economies could still slug out an economically pain

Can You Allow Your Friend To Stay With Your Partner When You're Not Around? .

I was having an argument with a friend about this earlier today. Your friend is in a new town and she/he doesn't know anyone there, but your boyfriend/girlfriend lives there. Will you allow her to stay with him? I feel that's a very bad idea, there should be an hotel she can stay. With the stories I hear these days I wouldn't do something that ? stupid. It's not trust issues, it's just precautionary measures. Lol What's your opinion? Will you let your friend stay with your boyfriend/girlfriend when you're not around

Kogi State University Orders Students To Rewrite Already Written Examinations.

Reports emanating from Kogi State University and monitored by Naija Cgpa indicates that students of the institution from different levels (200L, 300L, 400L, ex 400L) have been directed to return to the school within the first week of December to rewrite examinations already written as far back as January 2017. According to the affected students, the school hinged its decision on the non-submission of their results by the disengaged staff of the institution. The disengaged staff apparently held onto the results as a bargaining chip. The management of the school had earlier sacked over 170 of the lecturers for taking sides with ASUU and failing to call off the strike embarked upon in early February. Miffed at their action, the Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, directed the management of the institution to sack all lecturers who failed to resume. This disengagement of the erring staff has created no small stir in the school. The school has barely been able to carry on with acade

UK cyber security chief blames Russia for hacker attacks.

Russia has launched cyber attacks on the UK media, telecoms and energy sectors in the past year, Britain’s cyber security chief said Wednesday, amid reports of Russian interference in the Brexit referendum. “Russia is seeking to undermine the international system. That much is clear,” Ciaran Martin, head of Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), said at a technology conference in London, according to his office. “Russian interference, seen by the NCSC over the past year, has included attacks on the UK media, telecommunications and energy sectors,” Martin said. The centre has coordinated the government’s response to 590 significant incidents since it was created in 2016, though it has not detailed which were linked to Russia. Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday accused Moscow of “seeking to weaponise information” in order to “sow discord in the West and undermine our institutions”. Argentina football official commits suicide over FIFA trial claims.

A former Argentine football official has reportedly committed suicide after he was accused of bribe-taking in testimony to a trial of top former FIFA figures in New York. Jorge Delhon threw himself under a train in a Buenos Aires suburb on Tuesday, Argentine newspapers Clarin and La Nacion reported on their websites. A sports marketing executive, Alejandro Burzaco, had testified in the trial Tuesday that Delhon and another man, Pablo Paladino, took millions of dollars in bribes in exchange for rights to broadcast football games. Burzaco, the first witness in the trial, painted a damning picture of corruption in South American soccer, saying millions of dollars in bribes were paid for TV rights to major tournaments. Burzaco, the former chairman of an Argentine sports marketing company, pleaded guilty in November 2015 to racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracies and agreed to pay $21.6 million in restitution. In US federal court, he detailed how his

President Buhari Reacts To Zimbabwe Military Takeover & Robert Mugabe's Removal - .

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for calm, peace and respect for the constitution in Zimbabwe. The President urged all political and military stakeholders in Zimbabwe to avoid any action that may plunge the country into unnecessary conflict and impact negatively on the region. According to President Buhari, “every attempt must be made to resolve all contentious issues by constitutional means in Zimbabwe to save the country from avoidable political instability.” The appeal by the Nigerian leader came in the wake of reported “military takeover” as a result of rising political tension in the southern African country sequel to President Robert Mugabe’s recent removal of former Vice-President, Emmerson Mnangagwa. This led to the threat by the head of the Armed Forces of Zimbabwe, General Constantino Chiwenga, that “the military will not hesitate to step in” when the issue had to do with protecting the “revolution.” FEMI ADESINA Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) N

ABC Orjiakor Buys Eko Atlantic Afren Tower.

The first building to be completed in Nigeria’s cutting-edge city of the future, Eko Atlantic, has been acquired by oil magnate and Chairman of Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, Dr. ABC Orjiako. The 15-storey building, designated Alpha 1 or Afren Tower, was designed by James Cubitt architects and built by the Chagoury-owned construction firm, ITB Nigeria Limited, for a private investor with the intention of having Afren Plc, once a London Stock Exchange (LSE) listed independent oil and gas firm with interests in Nigeria, Ghana, Kurdistan, The Gabon and Cote d’Ivoire, as its anchor tenant. However, by the time Alpha 1 was completed last year, Afren had filed for administration, following allegations of unauthorised bonus payments by the company’s joint venture partner to the then CEO and CFO of Afren, a crippling bond default, its inability to refinance its operations, and eventual delisting from the LSE. With Afren in administration, an air of uncertainty befell Alpha 1 but thi
