World markets dive as Trump sparks trade, North Korea worries

Global stocks sank Wednesday after US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with talks that are aimed at averting a trade war with China. Equities were also dented by poor eurozone economic data, and as Trump cast doubt on a planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Trump (is) continuing to drive uncertainty over global trade,” said analyst Joshua Mahony at trading firm IG. “European markets are following their Asian counterparts lower, as a pessimistic tone from Trump is compounded by downbeat economic data,” he added. Markets had surged Monday after US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said they had agreed to pull back from imposing threatened tariffs on billions of dollars of goods, and continue talks on a variety of trade issues. However, Trump has declared that he was “not satisfied” with the status of the talks, fuelling worries that the world’s top two economies could still slug out an economically pain

Dembele and Barca look to maintain La Liga surge against Bilbao.

Two hundred days after becoming Barcelona’s most expensive signing, Ousmane Dembele finally scored his first goal for the club against Chelsea in the Champions League. Now, the 20-year-old will be hoping to be given the chance to sustain his momentum as Barca turn their attention back to La Liga and the visit of Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Dembele cost the Catalan club 105 million euros ($124 million) last summer and that figure could swell to 150 million if a number of performance-related bonuses are triggered. But the former Borussia Dortmund forward has struggled to live up to the hype in his debut season in Spain. Dembele suffered a hamstring injury on his first league start and did not play again for his new team until January, by which time Barca were flying in La Liga and about to sign another attacking talent in Philippe Coutinho. Coutinho’s arrival has made the competition even fiercer for the final spot up front alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez but,

Venus sets up semi-final clash with Kasatkina.

Seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams reached the WTA Indian Wells semi-finals for the first time since 2001 on Thursday by routing Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 6-3, 6-2. Despite the windy conditions, Williams improved to 5-2 on the season, which includes a third round win on Monday over sister Serena, who was making her return to the WTA after having a baby. “You kind of hope for this kind of scoreline, but you never know if you’re actually going to get it,” Williams said. Williams, who at 37 is the oldest player in the women’s draw, has played sparingly this year but is just beginning to step up her game. She next faces 20-year-old Russian Daria Kasatkina, who cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-2 victory in 58 minutes over the world number 10 Angelique Kerber. She dominated Suarez Navarro, who became increasingly frustrated and had to call her coach a couple of times to come down to the court in between sets for advice. “We’ve had a lot of great matches,” Willia

Man Survives After His Car Was Crushed By A Heavy Duty Vehicle (photos) - .

It has never been a safe practice to drive very close to a heavy duty vehicle. They are highly unstable when they are loaded combined with the terrible roads we have in our country. The man in the picture was lucky enough to escape the grip of death after this heavy duty vehicle crushed his car. This happened along Enugu-Onitsha expressway. If you know this road, you can testify how bad the road is especially during the rainy season. These heavy duty vehicles can cause painful and tragic death; be very careful when around them. Better still, avoid them if you can. It’s always advised to give way for heavy duty vehicles on the road. Don’t be too close to them from all sides. Give them the space they need. The worst remains overtaking it when it’s dancing due to the potholes and bad road. It can easily lose balance and fall. Drive with care. Don’t be a victim Thank God for his life. https://autojosh.com/car-crushed-by-heavy-duty/ 1 Like
