World markets dive as Trump sparks trade, North Korea worries

Global stocks sank Wednesday after US President Donald Trump said he was not satisfied with talks that are aimed at averting a trade war with China. Equities were also dented by poor eurozone economic data, and as Trump cast doubt on a planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Trump (is) continuing to drive uncertainty over global trade,” said analyst Joshua Mahony at trading firm IG. “European markets are following their Asian counterparts lower, as a pessimistic tone from Trump is compounded by downbeat economic data,” he added. Markets had surged Monday after US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier Liu He said they had agreed to pull back from imposing threatened tariffs on billions of dollars of goods, and continue talks on a variety of trade issues. However, Trump has declared that he was “not satisfied” with the status of the talks, fuelling worries that the world’s top two economies could still slug out an economically pain

California inmates fight wildfires for a buck an hour.

Fresh out of prison, Alejandro Rangel longs to keep doing the job he did as an inmate for one dollar an hour: fight forest fires. For more than two years, he worked with one of some 200 crews of inmate-firefighters who in summer and fall spend more time battling blazes in the forests of California than sitting behind bars. This week, for instance, 553 inmates were sent to help take on the blazes ravaging the wine country north of San Francisco. In prison, these people are prisoners. But outside they are like any other firefighter: no handcuffs, no chains, and no guards to watch over them. Perhaps the only thing that makes them stand out is an orange jumpsuit with the word “inmate” stamped on one of the pant legs. Oh, yes, and then there are the paltry wages they earn. For risking their lives fighting raging infernos, they earn a dollar an hour, compared to the minimum of $17.70 per hour that a professional makes. Their main job is to keep fires from spreading. They c

IPOB Is Weak, Similar To Boko Haram- Lai Mohammed On Why IPOB Is Terrorist Group .

Below is an opinion article by the minister of Information, Lai Mohammed on IPOB and the agitations for secession; “If they fail to give us Biafra, Somalia will look like a paradise compared to what will happen to that ‘zoo’ (Nigeria).” These are the words of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the so-called Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). On Sept. 20, the Federal Government of Nigeria proscribed IPOB as a terrorist organization. I, as minister of Information and Culture and the spokesman of the government, call on our international partners to do the same. Whilst there is no internationally agreed definition of terrorism, many nations’ characterizations closely correlate. Basic to all of them is this: the calculated threat or use of violence to further a political, religious or ideological cause. Back to Nnamdi Kanu: “I don’t want peaceful actualization (of Biafra)”; “We need guns and we need bullets”; “If they don’t (give us Biafra), they will die.” Public announcement like these puts IPOB’

Venezuale hold landmarks voteas it seek to ends crisis.

Venezuelans vote on Sunday in regional elections seen as a key test for both President Nicolas Maduro and the opposition alike after months of street protests that failed to unseat him. The opposition, unable to sustain the protests in which 125 people were killed between April and July, is seeking a big turnout which experts say could give them victory in the vast majority of Venezuela’s 23 states in the vote to elect governors. International powers accuse Maduro of dismantling democracy by taking over state institutions in the wake of an economic collapse cause by a fall in the price of oil, its sole significant source of revenue. Sunday’s polls are the first contested by the opposition since legislative elections in 2015 which gave it a majority in parliament. Ex-presidential candidate and key opposition figure Henrique Capriles is among those calling for a massive turnout. “Get out and vote, win and free the country from the dictatorship of Maduro,” said Capriles, th

She Gave Me Her Facebook Password Voluntarily, Why?.

I didn't ask for her Facebook password.. we just started dating.. I'm not insecure but I've heard many things about her before we started dating (that she has a lot of orbiters (guys hitting on her 247)). She must have thought: 'this guy has heard the rumors about me", thus her trying to earn my trust by giving me such a personal thing as a Facebook password? i didn't decline the offer.. Also to add, she's always really nice like super nice when we're together, like this holy Mary attitude and my dad always say: if it's too good it's not true. Could she be that wolf in sheep clothing? have any of you guys encountered such a person? it wouldn't be safe to assume now that she's a pretender.. what are your thoughts on this? Edit: Some of the nice things she's done are: *Giving to road side beggar as we drive on a date *Paying for the food *Sharing food and drinks with my friends And generally, not getting angry no ma

FG Writes US, UK, Others, Insists Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB A Terrorist Organisation.

Nigerian Governnent has formally informed the governments of the United States, US, United Kingdom, UK, and other foreign countries of its decision to declare the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as a terrorist organisation. An Abuja Federal High Court in Abuja had, on August 20, proscribed IPOB, following a motion filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN). The court had also ordered that the proscription be published in the Federal Government’s gazette which was done. ltalian police seize villa in worldcup connection probe.

PSG chairman and beIN Media chief Nasser al-Khelaifi faced new accusations Friday as Italian police seized a villa in Sardinia used as “a means of corruption” in a World Cup media rights scandal. Italian police, who have searched the luxury villa in Porto Cervo, said Khelaifi had put the property at the disposal of disgraced ex-FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke. Khelaifi and Valcke, who was Sepp Blatter’s right-hand man at FIFA until both were drummed out of world football’s governing body, were placed under investigation by Swiss prosecutors on Thursday over the sale of World Cup media rights. Khelaifi has close links to Qatar’s ruling family and heads the Gulf state’s beIN media group, which has a portfolio of channels in countries including France, Turkey and Australia. FIFA said Friday it was also investigating Khelaifi over the media rights issue. A FIFA spokesman said its Ethics Commission “opened a preliminary investigation into Nasser al-Khelaifi on Thursday e

Barca travel to Madrid amid Catalan crisis.

The biggest game of the La Liga season so far is shrouded in political tension as Barcelona visit Atletico Madrid on Saturday in their first trip to the Spanish capital since a Catalan independence referendum marred by violence. Barca played their last match behind closed doors as the October 1 referendum, deemed illegal by the Spanish government, took place amid chaotic scenes as police seized ballot papers and clashed with voters leaving 92 injured, among nearly 900 who sought medical attention. “It was one of the worst moments we’ve experienced,” Barca captain Andres Iniesta told Catalunya radio this week. “It was a bit surreal.” Iniesta, 33, signed a first ever “contract for life” at Barca last week, a day after calling on both sides of the political spectrum to negotiate. However, deep divisions remain despite Catalonia president Carles Puigdemont’s decision to suspend the effects of a unilateral declaration of independence on Tuesday. “It has reached a point which

Spurs lack financial might, says Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted that Spurs cannot compete with the two Manchester clubs, who are level on points at the top of the Premier League, in the transfer market. Pochettino’s side face struggling Bournemouth at Wembley on Saturday, hoping to close the five-point gap to leaders Manchester City and second-placed Manchester United. The top two both spent heavily during the recent transfer window and Pochettino concedes the financial strength of City and United means teams like Tottenham are forced to adopt a different strategy in the market as they attempt to keep pace. The Argentinian told beIN Sports: “The difference these days between clubs in the Premier League is that there are clubs, like City and United, who sign who they want and when they want. “Then there are big teams, like us, who sign when we can and who we can.
